Romania Monetary Reform 1952

Class: Traditional Philately

On January 27th, 1952, an unexpected monetary reform was announced in Romania. There was no time to issue new stamps and postal items, so existing stamps and postal cards (76 different types) were surcharged. The new postal rates did not match the surcharged values and interesting franking combinations were used. The exhibit includes stamps without surcharge, rare errors, different watermarks etc.
